Richard Jones "The last of the Oldbury Miners"
« on: Sunday 04 October 09 14:04 BST (UK) »
My Grx2 Grandfather Richard Jones was born in Birkenhead , Liverpool in 1838.  My Grandfather (his grandson) used to tell me that he was "the last of the Oldbury Miners". In 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 I have found in the census he was indeed a coal miner and was living in West Bromwich.  He died in 1901. Are there any records of the "Oldbury Miners".? Anyone know about the history of these mines and where he could have worked?

Thanks

Bellou :) :)
