Hi,

7 Sydney Road can be Google Earthed. It looks like the school is just a bit further along the road.

Regards

Where 7 Sydney Road is shown on Google Earth at the junction of Sydney Road and Maw Green Road, was a small infant school which shut (probably) 15 - 20 years ago, the school was demolished and a small housing estate built.

The large council estate you mention is the Sydney Road, Lime Tree Avenue, Elm Drive, Sycamore Avenue, Plane Tree Drive area. There are two other schools in this area, Monks Coppenhall which is approx half way along Remer Street (North Side) and Sir William Stanier Community High School (Formerly Coppenhall High School) on Coronation Street.

I wonder where my brain is at times!  I've used Google earth many times but for some reason it did not occur to me this time. :-[  Thank you both for your help. My OH now knows where his infants school was - having been away from there for over 50 years.
Cheers,
Abiam
