Anyone with Good eye's 1
« on: Wednesday 14 October 09 22:19 BST (UK) »
Hi I’ve received some photo copies of marriage certs from Dublin (time’s are hard) and for the life of me I just can’t read some of the words I have others but I will listed them separately at avoid confusion!

The first on is for Joseph Connolly & Elizabeth Tyrell 1896  the first query is what do you think Joseph ‘s  occupation is I know it says painter what’s the word before is it house also what’s James Connolly’s occupation ? Painter.
Williams look like Sailor or Tailor?

Also can any read the witness surnames names?

Is it unusual for catholic couples to of lived at the same address before marrage in 1896 as they both seem to live at 3 Georges Quay.

Thanks for you time X

Joseph's looks like House Painter

William probably Tailor - it looks more like the T in Tyrell than the S in Spinster

Mary Anne Clohisey ??

If you can find any of them in the census it may help with occupation, but I don't know much about Irish census returns.

Mary Anne Clohisey still at St George's Quay :

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Trinity_Ward/George_s_Quay/82708/

As well as a few other families so it seems to have been tenements or something. So very possible they lived in the same house, but maybe in different rooms with their families.

And maybe Thomas....Reynolds?.... Look at the way he does the 'y's, and the last letters look like 'LDS'. But that's just me!

I’ve reduced the image size so the top occupation is James Connolly’s occupation ???? Painter
Bottom occupation is William Tyrell, i can't find Williams or James on the census it I will have to wait for the 1901
