MacIlree / Collano
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 03:04 BST (UK) »
Can anyone give any clues as to where to search for information on the marriage of Daniel MacIlree (Macrae) and Jane Collano in Tyrone and the births of their children.
Jane Collano was born in Tyrone and her son Daniel MacIlree was born in Filand Tyrone in 1811.  There may have been more children but I havent found them yet.  In 1851 Jane was living in Scotland with her son Daniel's family and her sister Mary Collano.
Can anyone help please.
Thanks, Heather

Think that you might need to look at the original copies of the census images.
Firstly, think "Filand Tyrone" might say Ireland Tyrone.
Next, Collano doesn't seem to be an Irish surname and think it might really be something else (Collins?, etc.). Checking LDS site, 1911 census, index to civil registrations and other websites the surname Collano does not appear.

Added:
1851 census he was in Arthur Street, Edinburgh
MacIlree Daniel, head, 40, Filand Tyrone
McKay Williaminio, wife, 33, Perth Scotland
MacIlree John, son, 4, Edinburgh
MacIlree Jane, dau, 3, Edinburgh
MacIlree Neil, son, 1, Edinburgh
Collano Jane, mother, 73, Ireland Tyrone
Collano Mary, aunt, 50, Ireland Tyrone
The above from your Scottish thread shows Jane and Mary born 'Ireland Tyrone' and it's most likely that Daniel's birthplace is also Ireland Tyrone.

Thanks, I can see that now.  Will change my tack and check Collins and variants.  Don't have access to originals, just the transcript from Ancestry.

Cheers,
heather

Scottish census images are available on Scotland's People website- pay per view and very reasonable.

Can anyone find the birth of Daniel MacIlree b.1811 in Tyrone or the marriage of his parents; father unknown, mother Jane Collins/Cullen b.1778 Tyrone.

For pre-registration dates (birth registration started 1864) you'll need to search for any existing church records for a baptism.
