Davies +++ Completed +++
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 16:33 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I wonder if someone can help.
I am searching for info re Ann & William Davies.

1851 census shows them in Beaufort, Breconshire, with son William (31) and grandson Charles(1). HO107/2490/240/p18
I cannot track them in 1841, but William was apparently born in Breconshire so they should be there in 1841.

Ann & William shown as born in Pembrokeshire, but it seems that they would be in Breconshire in 1820 when William born.

1861 census shows William as 47 which puts them in Brecon in 1814.
RG9/4218/44/p33
Any help much appreciated.

 :)Rob

the reference you've given has a Davies family with son Thomas, not William

so in 1841, this would seem to be the family

Beaufort Square, Llangattock HO107/1366/14 folio 43 pg 23
William Davies 40 miner N
Ann 50 N
Thomas 20 miner Y
/William Williams 20 miner N
Mary Lewis 25 miner N
//
N = not born in county, Y = born in county.

Still struggling trying to track them down in 1841, just in case anyone else is hunting for the family, their son aged 31 on the 1851 census was named Thomas not William.

Thanks Osprey & Shirl,
sorry about the confusion, just testing to see if you were awake :D
Shows that my brain is not in control of my fingers.
All your info looks good Osprey.

I wonder if it's possible to find birth / baptism of Charles (1850?)?
1851 census shows him as Thomas' son, but no sign of his mother.

Thanks for your help,
Rob

to be accurate, the census shows him as a grandson of the head. He might not be the son of Thomas, though. Thomas is enumerated as unmarried in 1851 & 1861.

Can't see a baptism for him, but there's this possible birth reg

Thanks Osprey,
how about the marriage of Ann & William?
Census says they are both from Pembroke, is it possible to discover if they married before they moved or after moving to Breconshire? I guess they were married prior to Thomas baptism in 1819.
Many thanks for all your help.
Rob

I have marriages in Pembrokeshire from 1813, but not Breconshire. Ann gives her place of birth of Wiston in 1861 and none of the William Davies & Ann marriages take place in that parish. There are a couple of possibles in neighbouring parishes.
3/4/1814 William Davies to Ann Francis in Uzmaston
5/10/1815 William David to Anne Howell in Llawhaden

but the marriage could be earlier or elsewhere. It's guesswork without more info.
