Gillispie or Gillespie Glenarm
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 11:15 BST (UK) »
Would anyone have some information on Gillispie or Gillespie family from Glenarm? Evidently my Great Grandmother Mary who was born approx 1866 or so , was one of that Family
. She married a William Johnston and they emigrated to Ontario. They subsequently returned and lived in Belfast at 35 Cumberland Street.
How would I get her birth cert?
Thanks.

Hi,
   I cannot find your Mary Gillespie but I have found a Mary Gillespie who married a ROBERT Johnston on 5 Jan 1883 in Glynn Church of Ireland, Larne. If this is the one she was probablyy born before Civil Registration began so there would not be a birth certificate.

Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh
Neil, Smyth _Co. Antrim

there is a birth for a Mary Gilespie(1867) in the irish civil registration in larne district,i think glenarm comes under larne;
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home
and you can order the cert from groni;
http://www.groni.gov.uk/
if you quote the name,registration district,volume and page number that should be enough info for them.but don't tell them you got the info from the LDS or they'll take the huff ::)
