Bucks FHS and GS
« on: Wednesday 09 March 05 09:48 GMT (UK) »
Can someone advise me if the Bucks Family History Society or Genealogy Society will do searches for non members? I have been on both websites but can find no link to such a facility. I am , of course, willing to pay - within reason!

A fellow rootschatter kindly discovered that my greatx4 grandfather George Russell gave Hambleden in Bucks as his birthplace on the 1851 census, but Hambleden is not on the IGIs or on familyhistory. So it looks like the only way I'm going to find out anymore is via the FHS or GS.

Can anyone help me?   ???
Jill.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Hi Jill,

I have used the Buckinghamshire FHS and have found them most helpful, the requested data arrived very promptly. I am not yet a member and it was not a problem. I have posted a  part of the ordering information from their site, I personally think the charges are very reasonable. Good Luck in your research.

Kind Regards,

Frances :)

The search options are:

Full county search for a specific baptism
£1 + A5 self-addressed stamped envelope
Single surname search - a search for every reference to a surname for either
(a) any 100-year period covering the whole county OR
(b) six parishes covering all the years currently in the database
£3. + large self-addressed envelope with loose stamps.
Please give all variants of the surname that you would like searched - these are all included in one search.

Hi Frances,
That was exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going to send in my query tomorrow.

Thanks again, Jill.
