Please restore/Color my g.g.g Grandfather
« on: Monday 26 October 09 22:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello this is Edwin Bryant , my g.g.g grandfather. I recently found this photo along with many others (although this is the only known photo we have of him) , in an old family briefcase. I would very much apperciate if you could help restore and/or color it.
Also if anyone has an idea of when the picture was taken, I'm all ears

For dating purposes, could we see the whole thing please, including the corners of the mount? Also please scan in colour. A 300dpi scan is best for restoration.

I'm not quite sure about what you mean by the mount, this is the whole front of the photo, and I had thought that it was in 600 dpi.  ???

Older photos were printed on very thin paper that couldn't stand on its own, so they were pasted onto a heavy cardboard mount with the photographer's name embossed on the bottom.

Your photo as posted is only 91kb, which is small, so I would think if it were scanned at 600dpi you'd get a larger file.

If the photo is actually black & white, and not sepia, it would point to a date of later than about...maybe 1910 ish...not sure, but rather late to be a photo of a gggg grandfather...

Ah, well yes it is black and white as seen, the date listed sounds about right to me, I'll sort out the dpi in the morning.
Oh and I meant to say g.g.g grandfather ::)
