Marriage:
Richard Ginger married Mary Marten 21.03.1796 Saint Luke Old Street Islington/Finsbury

There were just too many Mary Martin/Marten records to pin one down.

The only IGI record for Richard was a possible son of Daniel & Jane in Watford Herts B; c. 1775 - but again I can't confirm it's the right guy - and some IGI entries are a bit suspect!

I haven't found any records on TNA for Richard the Publican unfortunately

Di

Hi all, this is my 1st post so forgive me if I do things wrong.
Lady Di pointed me to this site as I am an descendant of Daniel Ginger b1814.
There is a christening for a Mary Martin  on the 2 June 1771 at St Luke's Old Street Finsbury - where they were married. Parents William and Mary. This from IGI.

Re Jane Hunt Ginger - a Richard Ginger was born in 1774 to Daniel and Jane in Watford (IGI) No record of their marriage, but they had a daughter Jane Hunt Ginger. A Daniel Ginger and a Jane Hunt were christened in Watford in the 1740s.

Deb is there a Saint Lukes Islington ?

i looked on IGI but found nothing for Richard only the one b. Bucks and The one b. Herts

we have def ruled the Bucks one but not Herts
I wondered if there was a connection to Heston as they lived in Hounslow but went to Heston to have their children bp. although St Pauls was prob. closer, according to Genuki St Pauls is closed but they dont know when it closed and it hasnt got a churchyard.

1776-1800 at 20 Queenhithe lived Richard Ginger amongst other things a salt merchant so i wondered  if he was 'our' Richards father.

do we know what became of the Richard from Hertford ?

Hi Guys :)

I am still checking St Luke, Old Street, Islington

done 1774, 1775, 1776 ...he's not there  ::)

Igi has a submitted entry which says that he was born/bapt circa 1771 HARROW ... it gives a film number etc ...does that mean someone has seen the bpt? I have checked Harrow and cannot see him.

I wonder if someone can check my work ...

Good Morning all (well it is in Oz!)

Hi Katter - welcome to RootsChat and thanks for joining in.

Everyone has been very busy, thanks for all the new info.

Personally I think that Richard was the son of Daniel from Watford mainly because of his father's name - and also because so many of my families come from Herts at some time or another!! (don't think that can be classified as proof though  ::) )

The older Ginger seem to be conspicuous by their absence. Could they have all died in infancy?

Di
