Are you saying Mary's maiden name was Hearn too? Have you found their marriage? If so, the cert or PR will give the fathers name and occupations (hopefully) of William and Mary.

Lizdb,

The reason I may have had problems tracing them could be that I may have some fundamental early in my reaearch,

My GG Henry Hearn (Williams Father) was a cab proprieter in Islington.

The only 2 issues I have is on the 1911 census I have Marian down as Mary Ann Born Kings Cross.
Also I do not have a Caroline in the tree but she could have died.

Wife was Mary Ann in 1901 - so I guess 1891 was just a blip.

The fact that she specified Kings Cross in 1911 clinches it!

I guess Caroline died. Will look for you.

Is their eldest child Florence aged 14 in 1901?
From what records is William's middle name Edward? He seems to be just plain William in 1901.

There is a Sep q. 1886 marriage of William Hearn possibly to Mary Ann Choice on freebmd.
I think Florence might have been born under the surname Choice in Jun q. 1886.

Obviously the birth certificate of one of the children would clear this up.
