Was Samuel Hill a Policeman ???
« on: Saturday 07 November 09 13:19 GMT (UK) »
The above name is stated on my parents marriage certificate in 1940, and his occupation as policeman.

Is there anyway that this can be proved that he was a policeman.

Details are as follows:-

Samuel Hill   Born 1897 in Stilton (Farcet) Huntingdonshire   Died1976 in Coneygree Lodge Stangound Peterborough. On death cert occupation was van driver (retired).

On the assumption, always dangerous, that he was one of your grandfathers, as opposed to your father, do you have his marriage cert? What was his occupation then?
