Dan Williams Army service
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 11:55 GMT (UK) »
Dan Williams was the younger brother of my father Rees Jenkin Williams. I have all of my father's details and know that he joined the Kings Royal Rifles in December 1927 at Bridgend Glamorgan. I know that he was followed into the army by his younger brother Dan who was five years his junior (born 1909). I have no record of Dan apart from birth date and place (Nantymoel Ogmore). I understand that he served in India but where and with which regiment I do not know. He was with my father at Tidworth barracks because my mother told me. That anecdotal evidence is the only guide to him. I have found a Dan Williams of the Welch Regiment who died July 21st 1944 in France aged 34. Without being able to access Army records in a general way, as one can with civil records, I cannot say that it is my uncle Dan. All the people who I would have asked are now gone. They all would have been over a hundred years old now. How on earth can I trace uncle Dan and add him fully to the family tree. Can anyone please help?

Thank you Ev
The soldier who died can't be my uncle. My grandfather was Rees Lloyd Williams. Thank you very much for clearing that up.
