Ancestry - "You have more than 2 accounts" - completed
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 12:41 GMT (UK) »
Just been looking at my account on Ancestry, and according to them I'm a "Registered Guest" and I have a World Membership under a different user name ?  I'm using the same one that I got when I joined in 2007, but there's no way of finding out what the other account name is.   It's a bit worrying, because several weeks ago a couple of new trees appeared on my Ancestry page, which I didn't put there, so I just deleted them.

Anybody know how I discover my "other" user names  ?  :)

Best Wishes,  Nick.

You could always give Ancestry a ring, it is a free phone number i think.
Bloomfield, Knights, Whitmore, Warner (Suffolk)
Hamlin (London, Yorkshire, Scotland, Suffolk)
Mattocks, Newick, Nutter, (Kent)
Mattocks (Staffs)

Ask them to send a reminder password to your email. ?
It will include all Ancestry usernames registered to that email account on .co.uk / .com

I tried that Pauline - it didn't mention any other user names.  I've only had one since I started with Ancestry 2 years ago.

OK, all sorted now, although it even had the agent at Ancestry baffled for a while !   What happened was that it transpired that I did take out a trial subscription about 6 years ago, when I first tried researching my tree, but I didn't turn this into a full subscription at the time because I wasn't getting very far (I hadn't discovered Rootschat then !).

Then in 2007 I took out a full World Deluxe subscription, and topped this up with an extra 6 months that I got when I purchased a copy of Family Tree Maker Platinum Edition.  Because of this top-up, my subscription didn't automatically renew.

Anyway, I've renewed it now, and because I'm a volunteer keyer for the World Archives Project on Ancestry, I got a 15% discount on the World Deluxe subscription  :)
