Thomas O'Regan b. abt 1821 attended Trinity College, Dublin ca. 1840, emigrated to England, ordained a Deacon in Church of England in 1845, ordained priest in 1846 and Vicar of Donnington Wood, Shropshire, England 1850-1900.   He was born in Ireland but not known which county although his wife was Elizabeth born abt 1824 in O'Kerry, Ireland.   If anyone has access to the Alumni Dublinensis and could look up his entry for me I would greatly appreciate it!    Many thanks, Tom   :)

Tom, If that lookup fails another possible source of the info is Crockfords Directory of Anglican Clergy worldwide- it's published every couple of yrs and a Cathedral Library of Diocesan House, or a big university library should have all the back copies.

Update - Thomas O'Regan was at Trinity College Dublin in 1837 according to the listing for his son Arthur Rowland Thomas O'Regan on the Cambridge Alumni lists.  "Son of the Rev. Thomas [O'Regan] (Trinity College, Dublin, 1837) [V.] of Donington [Wood], Salop"

Unfortunately no library near me has Crockfords Directory of Anglican Clergy.   I hope some kind soul who has access to either resource could look him up for me.

Why not put a new post on say The Common Room Board and use the header "Crockford Lookup please."

If someone has access to crtockford that would give you the full info of parishes hwre he served etc.

Worth a try.

let us know how you go- maybe post back here on this thread.

Another point about Crockford... if you know the year he died, in the volume following his death there might be an obit which would give you an overview.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for their help!  I have the Crockfords listing for 1898 and the Alumni Dublinensis for Thomas O'Regan.  He was born 1821 in co. Clare according to the Alumni Dubl., and I believe it was in Ennis, co. Clare, son of John O'Regan, merchant in Ennis.   Now to find birth/baptismal records!  I'm also looking for John O'Regan (jr) who was born 1818 in Ennis, co. Clare also son of John O'Regan, merchant there, who I believe is the brother to Thomas.   Any suggestions where the best place is to look for these?    :)

Tom, I can't answer your last question- sorry- but I just wanted to say that Trinity College Dublin has a very proud intellectual history and a place to which very able students sought admission.
