*completed - thanks* 1911 address in Wrexham
« on: Tuesday 24 November 09 17:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I have found some relatives in the 1911 census living in Florence Street in Rhosddu Wrexham, I know where the general Rhosddu area is as I have seen it on a present day map, but seemingly Florence Street has long since gone so I was just wondering if anyone knew exactly where it was.
Thank you

Hi Sarah.  Florence Street was at the end of George Street, both long gone but if you google Wrexham map and zoom in close you can still see where George Street used to be.  It was off Rhosddu Road, almost opposite Cunliffe Street.  I believe Florence Street may have been named after Florence Vanda Cunliffe, granddaughter of Sir Foster Cunliffe. (Thanks to Alister Williams for that info)

ah thanks for that, George St is still on google maps although it looks more like a driveway now than a whole street! Least I have an idea whereabouts now! Cheers!

Where Florence Street used to be there is now a block of flats built by the council.  It is called Springfield.  Next door ir the Salvation Army Citadel.
