Hi

I have in my possesion a post card dated 20th October 1914. Sent from Berkeley, Glos to Mr Tom RUTHER of the R.G.H.Y. Squad B at Newbury Racecourse. I belive him to be Sergeant 235222 who served in Egypt abt the 24th April 1915. He left the army on the 19th May 1919. The letter was written bya girl called Suey [Susey] If any person is connected and wish to have this card please PM. If you live in Berkeley or surrounds I can drop it in.

Alf - Susie was Tom's big sister, the Ruther family are from around Berkeley (Ham and Stone), registrations Thornbury.
Thomas is married to Rose in the 1911 census age 28
Susan (birth registered as Susannah) she married Thomas Brinkworth, in Gloucerster Flour mills in 1911.
I'm sure somebody would love to have that postcard.

I think there is still a family at Ham. I will be going back down there on this Friday so I will make some enquiries and the best place to start is at the "Sally" pub. I was born not to far from Ham many years ago
