Hi

Couild SKS with access to the Clewer P r. do a lookup for the marriage of Richard Tunwell andSarah Dew on 30/9/1833.

I would like to know if there is any information on the original entry as to their status when they married, i e were they widowed, any father's names anf witness names.

Hi again,

I can't see a baptism for Sarah Dew but she was a witness at this marriage:

Apr 16 1832 Thomas Davies, widower & Mary Norris, spinster  both of this parish
the other witness was Thomas Wheeler.

These must be the Thomas & Mary Davies who witnessed her own marriage the following year.

How sure are you that Tunwell is the correct surname? I've looked in the Clewer PRs and in the Berkshire Burial Index - no Tunwells. I tried Tingwell, Tunnel but no luck. have you come across other variations?

Jill

Hi Jill

No, historically the Tunwell's came from Norfolk and London, the bulk of them settled in Cambs in the 16thc.

I think this Richard may have been a stray from London, but the connection with the Davies family is interesting.

Apparently the 1841/1851 census throws up a Richard ^ Sarah Tunwell living in London, with Sarah having been born in London, this may well be this couple.

Thanks
Again

David

on your other thread, in the 1851 census, Sarah was born in Reading, Berks.

and Richard was from Southwark.
