Thackerays
« on: Monday 30 November 09 11:39 GMT (UK) »
My paternal family of Thackerays arrived in India (Calcutta) in the late 1800, early 1900s. George Henry Thackeray married Kathleen Mary Green in 1911.
(I have his Marriage Certificate)
I have traced G. H. to Leeds, but cannot find the link between leaving Yorkshire and arriving in India. Idon't know he was in the British Army or went out to seek his fortune!
Kathleen Green is also on the marriage cert. as being English, but born in Multan.

Any clues, any info would be helpfull

Hi Shaun,

Thank you for your info. I have that information. The DH Thackeray is my Father.
What I need is the information of George Henry's Father (also George) going to India around 1880's. Mrs T. Thackeray was G.H's second Wife. I don't know if she was born in India, or England.

I think the journey out to India was the return trip. My Father said that his father came back to Leeds sometime during the 1920's to visit. My Father also came to Leeds on a visit. His trip to Leeds was in 1932.

Once again many thanks for your efforts on my behalf,
Regards,
