From Shropshire to Staffordshire
« on: Monday 30 November 09 23:51 GMT (UK) »
I have a Robert Tew (born Shropshire) married Elizabeth in Market Drayton.

Had at least 3 children in Market Drayton between 1804 and 1810.

Of those Thomas was later to marry Elizabeth Key in Hanley Staffs in 1823.

There are 4 Tews born of Robert and Elizabeth Tew in Hanley (Anne, Richard, Jane and Charles between 1812 and 1818), and I can find no sign of a Robert Tew born in Staffs.

Anyone any suggestions on how I might confirm if this is the same couple ? My instinct says it is ? HOWEVER I think that Elizabeth was later to return to Market Drayton by 1851, probably after the death of Robert

Have you tried tracing them through the censuses in both counties? (assuming they were still alive then)

The birth dates of their children seem to fit in quite nicely if they are the same couple in Shropshire and Staffordshire.

Do you have the marriage of Robert and Elizabeth? I couldn't see it on the IGI.
