Rose McHale
« on: Tuesday 01 December 09 15:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give any info on my gt gt grandmother Rose McHale the only info I have is that she married Martin Butler in Dec 1871 in Pontefract, Yorkshire but does not appear in the 1871 census. She appears to have been born in 1841 and has a sister Ellen who was born in 1844.

What is the fathers name and occupation on the marriage certificate?  What was the familys Religion?

Civil registration of births started 1864.  You need to find church records so you need to know both the family's religion and where they lived - parish if not townland, and hope church records for that period have survived.

Hello Wivenhoe.  Yep, thats the family, but without the marriage cert for Martin and Rose it's difficult to search back.  Mchale is a very common name in County Mayo.
