Maidment - John and Harriet
« on: Thursday 03 December 09 20:34 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate a marriage between John Maidment and harriet in the Woodlands/Horton area  somewhere between 1810 and 1830 - I have the baptism of Jasper Maidment in 1825 and am trying to locate the marriage of his parents. It would seem they had a range of children from 1818-1847.

Many thanks

Yes - that is the only one I could find - but she is only shown as aged 45 on the 1851 census (widowed) - it seems a bit odd? Also IGI show childrren being born to John and harriot (sic) from 1818 to 1847 - is this realistic?
What do you think?

Possibily her age was mistranscribed on the 1851 census, I have had this happen to some of my relatives. Does the 1851 census say where Harriett was born?

Harriett is shown as being born at Woodlands in 1851 which contradicts the marriage of Harriet king to John Maidment in 1814 at Alderbury, Wilts. I wonder if anyone can find John and harriet maidment on the 1841 Census please.
It would seem that all their children were baptised at Horton with Woodlands between 1818 and 1847. By 1851 harriet was a widow.
All help gratefully received!

Ellen Furnell 1891
« Reply #7 on: Friday 04 December 09 20:08 GMT (UK) »
Ricky - are you able to help with this one please- Ellen Furnell born 1875 - with her family in 1881 in Dorset (parents Fred and Rhoda Furnell) in East Tisbury Wilts.
She married Edwin James maidment in 1899 but I wonder where she was in 1891 - by 1901 Ellen and her new husband are in Hordle in hampshire on the edge of the New Forest/Lymington border - so she may not be found that easily!

Many thanks
