1901 Census Cecelia Bradbury
« on: Thursday 03 December 09 20:51 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if someone could help me please?

I have found a Cecelia Bradbury on the 1901 Census in Walsall, Staffordshire. She is a widow living with grand-daughter Cicely Bradbury. Next door is a John Bradbury with his wife Ellen and family. On freeBMD Cecelia dies aged 72 in 1908.

I am trying to fit these people into my family tree as I have been told "Cissie" is related.

a. Who did she marry?
b. Is John her son?
c. Is Cicely John's daughter?

My grandfather was an Alfred Bradbury and he does have a brother John born c1883 in Gentleshaw, Staffordshire. Is there a connection here? With the information I have available I just cannot get any further.

I hope someone can help.

In 1861, If I have followed the correct lady.  Cecilia (the grandmother) has a husband George and also has a 7 year old son John born Walsall. (among other children).

There are children George, John and Samuel and they are living in Walsall.

In 1850 there is a marriage with a George Bradbury and a Cecilia Smith on the same page (with others). So a possible.  District Walsall. Q2.

They are together and on the 1891 census.

Wow, that's quick, Tressle. Thanks a lot for this additional information.

Now, do I have a George in my tree?

Let me take a look.

George is born approx 1828 and gives Walsall, Staffordshire as his place of birth on the census. Will have a look and see if he is with Mum and Dad in 1841.

This could be him in 1841 with a George and Harriet Bradbury.  In Walsall.

George Bradbury 40
Harriet Bradbury 30
George 12
Samuel 10

Looks like Rushall or Bushall Street

I've found out that great grandfather Ernest Bradbury had a cousin George Bradbury, all of whom were from Walsall, Staffordshire. I had thought the connection would be closer than that. I think that there was a great deal of inter-marrying going on within this family group!

Thanks for all the work you have done for me.

I assume that John is Cecelia's son on the 1901 census and that Cecily is his daughter.

It would be interesting to know where this latter Cissie is living in 1911? I would hope that she was living closer to my known grandfather in Chase Terrace, Staffordshire, perhaps?

I have just found a marriage on freeBMd for Cecelia Ann Bradbury to a William Harry Douglas, I think, in June qtr 1906, Walsall again.

This must be the same one.
