One of my ancestors, James Snowball (1818-1879), a rather prosperous owner of the brickworks at Whickham Colliery, became an alderman of Gateshead shortly before his death.
The church of St. Cuthbert in Bensham, Gateshead has a large monument (which I understand is in pretty poor shape) in it's grounds and was erected by James, as a memorial to his wife, Hannah Snowball, who died in 1849.
Is anyone able to take a few shots of this monument for me? I have one fair quality shot but a better photo and some of the inscriptions would be nice, if someone has the time. I'm down in East Sussex so not an easy outing!
Many thanks in anticipation
Steve
