small cemetry behind St Margaret's Church, Ayr
« on: Friday 11 December 09 08:55 GMT (UK) »
Would some kind person who might just happen to be passing check out the cemetry behind St Margaret's for me please.

I have been told by a cousin, now in Australia, that she saw a headstone there dedicated to ANN BLUE erected by her son PETER CASSIDY

Many thanks

Frank

Hi Frank,

I've just had a look in the churchyard but couldn't find the stone you are looking for.
Do you know when she was buried?

Regards

Thank you for taking the trouble Andrew.

My cousin said she saw the stone simply 'in the small cemetry behind the church'. The Peter Cassidy referred to was her great grandfather and Ann Blue our great-great grandmother. But I always understood Ann Blue married Andrew Cushnaghan and died in Ireland. I have emailed her for an exact location but I think its late in the evening there at present so may not recieve a reply until tomorrow.

She actually died 12th July 1929

Thank you again for taking the trouble to look, I do appreciate it.

This just arrived from my cousin:

You go to the back of St Margarets church and it is quite a small burial area, if you have your back to the church it would be on your right hand side - I think!!!!  It is not a small headstone it is quite large.

Hi Frank,
I have been unable to locate the stone you want.
I will send you some pics of the graveyard.Maybe your cousin can tell if it has been moved.
Also sending a pic of a stone mentioning the "Blue " family.

A BIG thank you to Andrew. The grave turned out to be my g-g-g-grandmother's, complete with maiden name, dates and ages. I am forever greatful to Andrew for his kindness at taking the time to look and the trouble to photograph the headstone and churchyard.

Thank You, Andrew. ;D
