Alfred HOOD - SA - marriage confirmation

Hi,
From previous posting I know that Alfred Hood died 18.6.1898 aged 28 Bromton Park Holder Village 253/38. However, after a years searching I have found his birth in the uk as William Alfred Wood 1868 in Lydney, Glos. Wanting to try and confirm that he did not marry as William Alfred in South Australia prior to death. Parents were William and Elizabeth Hood. There is a remote/very remote chance he may have used the surname Jackson as this name was used by the family on the 1871 uk census-dont ask why I do not have a clue.

I cannot see any marriage for William Alfred HOOD/Jackson in the SA Index.

Hi John

John his place of residence was Holder Settlement on the River Murray at the and place of death was Brompton. 

I previously searched for any HOOD marriages with father William on the SA Indexes.  There were only two marriages with father William HOOD before 1898 and neither are for a William Alfred or Alfred.

There are no Alfred JACKSON marriages with father William on the SA indexes to 1898.

John I have accessed the names of the HOODS arriving on the HESPERIDES as assisted passengers the and I am wondering if it is your family.  There only appear to be three people on the shipping record.  It was pointed out that the information on BISA is not 100% accurate.

Hi Cando,
Good to speak again. I am 100% sure this is the family. Minnie was born in 1875 and died on passage to Australia. I now also have the birth records of the 2 sons William Alfred and William John. I do not know how to add previous postings to replys etc but you may wish to see my posting on uk board in the london and Middlesex section. Had real luck finding the Hood family under the name Jackson. Dont ask why haven't a clue. Anyway just wanted to clarify if Alfred had married--appears he did not. As always thanks for your help and support in all my postings.

Many thanks for link. I recently received a copy of her death cert from a relation. The informant was a William James Wood, her son in law through marriage to her daughter Catherine Sarah Hood.

I think this posting could now be closed as I have established Alfred does not appear to have married.
