Weddings in Windsor
« on: Sunday 13 December 09 19:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Would anyone be able to look these marriages please.
Syliva Buckland june 1884 Windsor.
Ellen Buckland Dec 1883 Windsor.
Rose Buckland June 1890 Windsor i think she mar William White.
Would like to know who they married and also the parents names to see if they are all sisters.
Also why would they marry in Wndsor when they came from Buckinghamshire?

Thank you
K182

have you tried looking for them in the 1891 census?  the GRO Index will give you one or two male surnames; combine that with their known Birth dates and Places.

Cheaper than buying a certificate or hoping someone here has access to more detail from a PR (and they may have married in an RO)

Hi K182 (and Mort - sorry, it was already typed)

I don't have access to the details (I'm guessing you'd need to know the church where the wedding took place?) but a quick look at BMDs and censuses suggest that:

Sylvia Buckland (born ca. 1859 Eton Bucks and in service at Clewer, Windsor district in 1881) marries George Cripps in 1884 (the 2 possible grooms were George Cripps or Richard Sable)

1891
RG12/1012 94 8
Clewer, Berkshire
8 London? Terrace

George Cripps, head, 29, Sorting Clark & Telegraphist (G P O), b. Berks Windsor
Sylvia, wife, 31, b. Bucks Eton Wick
George, son, 6, scholar, b. Clewer
Sylvia M, dau, 4, scholar, b. do.

Ellen Buckland marries William George Nixon:

1891
RG12/524 88 18
Lewisham, Kent
8 Taylors Lane

William G Nixon, head, 26, Stone Mason, b. London Newington
Ellen, wife, 33, b. Bucks Chalvey
Alfred, son, 10, scholar, b. Bucks Slough
James F, son, 5, scholar, b. Kent Sydenham
Florence P, dau, 3, scholar, b. do.
Lily M, dau, 2, b. do.
Gladys D, dau, 4 mo, b. do.

The presence of Alfred confirms that this is your family (he's with Ellen and grandparents George and Sophia in 1881)

Hi k182,

In 1891 a female fitting the description of Sylvia Buckland is living with her husband George Cripps.

Also in the same year, Rose and William White are living with Rose's mother Sophia.

Ellen and William G Nixon are living as man and wife in 1891, again her details are the same as I would expect Ellen Buckland's to be.

Hope this helps ??

Kind regards,

Pels.

Added : May as well still post, sorry everyone !!  ;D
