Ainsworth family info required
« on: Wednesday 16 December 09 22:57 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for some help on my mum's side of the family. But I seem to be struggling with some bits of the Ainsworth family.
George Henry Ainsworth who was a coalminer was born about 1889. He married an Elizabeth Shepherd who was born around 1889. I don't have a marriage date or location for them.
They had a son and a daughter. The son's name was Leandrew Ainsworth who was born on 1st February 1909 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire. Leandrew married Mary Haggart Davies. But I don't have a marriage date or location. Leandrew died in Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire in 1992.
The daughter's name was Martha Ainsworth who was born on 15th February 1907. But I don't have her birthplace. Martha died in Bonnybridge in 1990. Martha married Alan Thomson who was a labourer. But I don't have a marriage location.
Any help would be appreciated.

yours

Can't easily see George, father, on the 1891/1901 Scottish censuses. You have an appoximate birth year for him, have you confirmed his birth details somewhere (death cert for example?). I am wondering whether he was born perhaps in England.

The birth cert that Ev has found on Scotlands People for son Leandrew should include date and place of parents' marriage.

Hello MonicaLesl,

I don't have a death certificate for George the Father. Nor any birth year for him. I know my Uncle Andrew or Leandrew as he was known spoke with an English accent. So possibly his parents were born in England and then moved North to have Leandrew in Kirkintilloch.
I haven't looked at the SP site to see the certificate's that EV has discovered on the marriages for Martha and Leandrew.
The only details I have on dates born are around 1889 in the original posting for George and Elizabeth.

Yes it is Monica,

It just goes to show that if you become stuck and up against a brick wall. Then it's worth posting a query on here to see if you can get a result like I did.
