Am in a right mess
« on: Thursday 17 December 09 05:09 GMT (UK) »
In 1899 at Kilmadock Jane Ann Ferguson married Robert Stewart GRO362/00 0011.
Robert born 1876 Deanston Kilmadock, parents Robert Stewart occ carter, and Jannett Hellen McGregor.

Cannot find a marriage for these two..have plenty of Stewart and McGregor's in my tree but none match this pair..plenty who are ag labourers.  Have tried SP for a marriage think maybe SP having problems again today as cannot find any Stewart/McGregor marriages at all in Perth  :( and that's a fib  ;D

Have no problems with Jane Ann Ferguson apart from the fact that on the 1901 census she is home with Mum and Dad Daniel Ferguson and Mary King..seems a bit soon, she was only married in 1899.  As to Robert cannot find him in 1901 at all..maybe he went home to Mum and Dad as well  :D

I have totally mucked up my family tree and have Stewarts and Fergusons coming out of the woodwork.

Help please  :'(  patvp

given the census is not always accurate  ::)
i'd say that the 1881 census and the 1901 census that Monica has found
is the same family

Go and find something cool and refreshing to do Pat  :)

On opposite extremes, over here, snow is falling, a number of schools are closed early on the last day of term because of the snow and it is FREEZING  ;D

Patvp

I am researching the same family for a friend who is descended from Jane Pedderwick Stewart, b 1874 in Alva, who married Andrew Waugh in Callander.  She was sister to your Robert Stewart who married Jane Ann Ferguson.

The census records cited above are correct for this family.  The birth in Muthill is also correct, as are the IGI births cited above.

Janet McGregor was b 1848 in Muthill as the daughter of Peter McGregor and Elizabeth Bayne.  You'll see that corresponds onomastically with the IGI births mentioned above.

At present I have not yet been able to identify the birth family for Robert Stewart, b 1848 in Cornton, Logie, Perthshire, Scotland.

If you reply here and I don't respond in a timely manner, please feel free to drop me a note at (*) and rattle my chain.

Hello

In all of Scotland there are only 23 Robert Stewarts - 1855 to 2006 who die - having been born in 1848.

There is only one in Perth.  He is down as 'widowed' and dies in Feb 1914 - - between the 24th and 29th Jan   (some form of poisoning?).
Unfortunately does not give wifes name.  Parents were John Stewart and Barbara Stewart (Smith).
At the time he was living in Comrie.  No relative was informant.

Occ. given as 'Stonebreaker.
Regards,   Steve
