I have removed some posts from this thread that were not relevant and becoming somewhat unfriendly.    We are here to help the poster not argue about methods of transcription.

Dalum the reason a MILLER could be in the same grave is either a family member or more likely it is a public grave.

Strange. though, that they have three sons of the same names and approx. the same age and are at the same address??

Jen,

I agree that it looks like them I just wanted to play devils advocate somewhat.  Unless I can prove something beyond reasonable doubt it goes no where near my tree that is all.

I've tried looking for other William, Charles and Herberts in 1891, but have had no luck so far.

No luck finding George and Sarah either, though they must have been somewhere, as they are on the 1901 census.

Strange that no one has mentioned the posibility that these people had more than one Christian name, unless the point was raised in a posting that was edited.Perhaps you should try looking for the birth James George Armitage etc. in the relevant periods ?

There are 2 submitted records on IGI for Charles born c 1880 with 2 different dates of birth and him dying 1967.
Parents, George ARMITAGE and Sarah Ann STANDISH

Birth reg;
Charles ARMITAGE, March 1881, Gainsbro, 7a 730
So earlier date of birth, 14 December 1880 seems likely.
The only possible marriage I can find is with a George Armitage and Sarah Standish on same page is in March 1886, Sheffield. This is a little late going by the 1881 Census.

I cant find them in 1891 either.

I think I've found George Armitage in 1861, says he was born circa 1839 in Rotherham, which ties in perfectly to 1901.

I was hoping he would have a brother called James Armitage, who might have moved in in 1891 to look after the kids. Bit of a long shot perhaps.

Does it look like the right person to you lot?

Anyone had any luck with him in 1871?
