Germany - QUALMANN
« on: Monday 21 December 09 06:18 GMT (UK) »
Are there any online resources for looking up births, deaths and marriages in Germany?
I am wanting to find a marriage between Johann Joachim Heinrich Qualmann and Anna Maria Christiana Bade c1870 Germany - don't know what area.  I believe they had a son Johann Joachim Heinrich Bade - don't know year of birth or anything more on this person.  They also had a daughter Louisa Marie Christina Bade b.1875 Mecklenbert, Schwerin, germany.  The family migrated to South Australia c1883.
Any help or further information on this family would be great as I've hit a brick wall.

Hi Shirlbur,

there is very little online data for Germany, apart from any LDS records at www.familysearch.org

You will probably need to write to the the Standesamt (Registry Ofiice) in Schwerin, asking for more details, and you may also need to send prrof that you are a direct descendant of these people.

Another area of research would be the Australia board, here on the forum, as the immigration records will often supply snippets of information about their origins.

Good luck,
Bob

Hi Shirlbur,

Ancestry has now Duplicate Kirchenbücher for Mecklenburg, mostly from 1876 onward, but some earlier.Sorry I don't have a subscription for Germany.

Also on Ancestry message board for Qualmann.

Happy Christmas :)
