Wreah,Low,Hensingham
« on: Friday 25 December 09 16:49 GMT (UK) »
Wonder if anyone can help? I found a relative in the 1871 census staying at the address listed - Wreah,Low,Hensingham. and wondered where this might be. I know Hensingham a bit as I was brought up in Cleator Moor but maybe this place no longer exists. I know that this person's parents were living in Richmond cottage Hensingham in 1861 and wondered if this was near it?
Thanks
Chris  :)

Hi and welcome to rootschat
If you can give the names or the census reference numbers then we should be able to follow the enumerator's route to see if the houses were near to each other.  Assuming he went the same way on both occasions!

Andrea

Hi Chris

How long is it since you were in the area?  If you know where the new swimming pool is, Low Wreah is over the road from it.  If you are on the road from Whitehaven to Keekle, there's a turn-off left, that eventually ends up at Frizington.  There's also a High Wreah.

Thanks for all your help and very prompt replies! I know where this is now, thanks. I've been down there a couple of times but didn't know its name. Once again, thanks very much - this seems to be a very helpful site, glad I found it. Found a new link to a branch of my family tree the first time I logged on! You never know, I might even be able to return the favour and help someone else in the future.
Chris :)
