Hargreaves of Marston/ Great Budworth, Cheshire
« on: Sunday 27 December 09 00:53 GMT (UK) »
Looking for any connections with Peter Hargreaves born 1830- 1892 married  Mary Orme shopkeeper in Marston Cheshire.

His father James Hargreaves born 1805 in Great Budworth married a betty. (i have found an Ellen Hargreaves in Great Budworth born 1818 maybe his sister?  or niece? but no proof.)

Think i have most descendants but trying to get back. not found James' birth but only looked on line census stuff.

Any tips/ directions?

Thanks

Matthew Hargreaves

Hi Matthew,

There are alot of Cheshire parish records on the family search pilot site:

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

You will see them if you go to Browse the collection and select Europe.

The following marriage is indexed in the Cheshire Bishops Transcripts and fits with the niece staying with the family in 1851:

James HARGREAVES m Elizabeth NEWTON 19 February 1829 at Astbury.

Hope this helps,

Jean

On the same site there is a baptism for a James HARGREAVES on 17th June 1804 at Great Budworth, with the father's names shown as William HARGREAVES who could be Peter's father.

Great

I couldn't find the online parish records until you pointed them out- what a great site.

That has opened up over @ 40 names. just spent the last 3 hours trying to work out relationships. and pushed back my male line to a marriage in 1751 william hargreave and jane. not found his birth.

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Matthew hargreaves

Hi Matthew,

Not sure if you have already seen this but it looks as if Peter left a will:

http://apps.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/RecordOfficeWillEPayments/search.aspx

You can order online if you think a copy would be useful.

Matthew, you may recall that John Hargreaves (George and Ellen's son) and me (Emma Harrison, his stepdaughter) came to visit you and your dad.
Sadly, John died on 4th June and I am trying to contact you with funeral details.
I have no other idea how I can contact you except through here, I just hope you see this message and reply x
