Looking for relatives of Elvira H SCROGGS, known as Cissy, she married John Henry PRITCHARD Sept Qtr. Oxford 1926.

By relatives - do you mean her birth family (parents, siblings etc etc)  or her descendants via her marriage?

Cannot see an  Elv* SCROGGS  birth on FreeBMD where the name is a form of Elvira -    though there are plenty of birth reg's with Elvira H (var) forenames.

Any idea on the ages of the couple?

There is a marriage: Dec Qtr 1883, Oxford with:
Elvira Henrietta ALMOND and a Thomas SCROGGS on the same page

but by my reckoning, this bride would be at least around 58 years old in 1926 (based on being as young as 15 (unlikley) when marrying in 1883)   could this be her parents? Or perhaps herself, and PRITCHARD was a 2nd marriage later in life?

I am trying to locate siblings of Elvira or her nephews and nieces. I do not know of any children by her marriage to John Henry.
As for their ages, John Henry was born 1893, and they where roughly the same age. John Henry had a son who was killed in the Second World War, on the CWGC site it states his parents as John Henry and Elizabeth Ann Pritchard from Wroxton, Oxfordshire. So Elvira H could have been his second marriage.

I think then that you will have to get the 1926 marriage cert to confirm that it is indeed the record that you should be looking at.
To me, the dates (going on her candidate death) do not mesh well with your info

Hi,

As I see it, Elvira Henrietta ALMOND born 1/1863 Gloucester, daughter of Joseph and Eliza Almond married Thomas Scroggs 1883.  They had two children that I can see, Arthur c1884 and Eliza P c1886.

This Elvira had several siblings.

Thomas Scroggs died 2/1916 Oxford aged 54.

Elvira H Scroggs them married John Henry Pritchard in 1926

The son that was killed was the son of John Henry and his first wife Elizabeth Ann  and was the step son of Elvira.  I could not find a marriage between John Henry Pritchard and Elizabeth Ann during the period 1882-1926.  Perhaps it related to another couple altogether and it wasn't the son of this JH Pritchard.  The timesacale seems a bit out, unless the man killed was coming up for middle age.  Unless of course, Elvira married a much younger man the second time around.

1911 Thomas and Elvira are living in Oxfordshire and had been married 27 years.

Perhaps you really do need to get a cert to be sure of the marriages etc.

Elvira Henrietta is a pretty unique name so I am sure we are all right in assuming it is the one you are looking for.

If you want the names of siblings for this Elvira, let me know.

John Henry Pritchard was born in 1893, so Elvira would have been 30 years older when they got married. I shall order the Marriage Certificate from the Sept Qtr. 1926 Oxford.

Hugh the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Ann was born Sept. Qtr. 1922 Prescott. On Free BMD it has the mother's maiden name as THOMAS. John Henry PRITCHARD and Elizabeth Ann THOMAS married in the Mar. Qtr. 1911 Anglesey.

Can you please let me know the siblings of Elvira

Joseph Almond born c. 1833 Hetton le Hole, Durham married Eliza Marcham, born Aldworth Berks c 1836 during the first qtr 1855 Registered Reading Berks.

You really need to check the parish registers to get the the full story on this family as there seem to be unreported deaths unless the surname is spelt incorrectly.

I hope all this makes sense to you as it does seem to be a bit complicated.
