I am hoping someone may be able to help me.
My g-g-grandfather, Thomas Vears was born in Lutterworth in approx 1825. (Parents - Thomas and Sarah). I have them in the 1841 census living in Ely St.
The next thing I know for certain is that Thomas (Jnr) arrived here in Australia in 1849 aboard the ship, Harbinger. He is listed as unmarried.
I have been told that it is possible Thomas (Jnr) married a Sarah Chamberlain and had a child, John, in 1842. I have found mention of both these events occurring in 1842.. I will apply for the certificates to see if they are "my" people. I believe they may be as, in the 1851 census, John is listed as a grandchild living with Thomas (Snr) and Sarah. The age etc all match up.
I have been looking, unsuccessfully, to try and find what may have become of John's mother, Sarah Chamberlain/Vears. I also have no idea what became of John as I can't find him in any subsequent census.
I would really appreciate it if anyone is able to help me with this.
Thanks
