1901 - James Heap
« on: Monday 28 December 09 22:31 GMT (UK) »
Lancashire BMDs record the marriage of James Heap and Margaret Eaves in 1893 in St Peter's Church Fleetwood.

James is thought to have been born about 1867,  his father's names was Henry, a weaver, but where James was born is unknown.    Nothing more is known about Margaret.

James and Margaret have not been found in 1901 so where are they hiding?    Lancs BMD records support the births of Robert 1894, William 1896, James 1898 and Alice in 1900 - all in Fleetwood.

Grateful for help in finding more about James

lancashire opc gives Margaret Eaves father as Robert Eaves, a labourer

there is a baptism on the same site for a Margaret Eaves with father Robert a labourer & mother Isabella - 1 Oct 1872 St Peter, Fleetwood, Lancashire, England

which would fit with Margaret age 20 on her marriage in Feb 1893

on the 1901 census there is a Margaret heap b 1873  in Fleetwood, living in Fleetwood but no spouse is listed. I do not have any access to look at further members of the household

Hi Gerry,

At a later date sons Robert and William and another son Joe aged 3 appear to be living with their Uncle William Heap aged 48 and family in Failsworth.  Uncle William was born Belmont.  ;)

I have a feeling this is William in the 1871 census:

5 Callans Yd, Newton, Manchester

HENRY Heap, Head, Wid, 42, Cotton Power Loom Weaver, Lancs Manchester
WILLIAM Heap, Son, 7, Scholar, Lancs Belmont nr Bolton
JAMES Heap, Son, 5, Scholar,  Lancs Cla?ytins (Guess at Clayton) Man????

Really bad image sorry.

Regards,
Mo

Thanks everyone for your very helpful replies and for Mo going "that extra mile" after 1901 and finding the children living in Failsworth.

In 1901 Margaret is recorded as 'Head'  and James Heap has not been found.    I understand James died (but not sure when), Margaret remarried (when and who to is unknown)and the children were shipped off to Failsworth -hence Mo's finding is very helpful.

Thanks again and a very Happy New Year :) :)
