Registration districts

I have a Charles Heasman Married to Isabella Kenward in Withyham Sussex.
However, on double checking with the IGI there is a Charles Heasman Married to Isabella Kenward on 13 June 1874  at both -

1. Saint John Crowbrough Sussex

and

2. St John'S Withyham Sussex

Which is correct please?

The Registration district for Crowbrough is Uckfield, while Withyham's  Registration district is East Grinstead. :-\

Hi,

The record for Crowborough is  an extracted record (so should be accurate);  the one for Withyham is submitted by a member of the LDS church and so should be treated with caution until parish registers/marriage certificate can be examined.

Some records on the IGI were produced from the banns rather than the marriage register and so both could be correct although this is fairly unlikely as late as 1874.

Thankyou both. As I said this was only a double check, I do treat the IGI with caution.
Of corse they "could" have been married in both places - once for the groom and once for the bride! :D :D
