Brittain Family, Chertsey
« on: Wednesday 30 December 09 18:21 GMT (UK) »
I have traced the familyof my3 x gt grandfather to Chertsey:
George Brittain b.abt.1774 married Elizabeth Sanders b.1776 West Moseley.
The marriage took place in West Moseley 13 April 1803.
Children from the marriage:
Susanna christened 30.12.1803
Mary Ann christned 17.11.1805
Elizabeth b.03.08.1807 d.17.09.1807
George b.23.07.1809 christened 13.08.1809
Eliza b.31.10.1811 christened 06.121811
Elizabeth b.07.10.1814 christened 30.10.1814
I have traced my 2x gt.grandfatherGeorge and his sister Eliza, but can find nothing on the other sisters.
Eliza married in London and in the 1851 Census George and Elizabeth are living in Whitechapel London.
Does anyone have access to Parish Records to trace any possible marriages for the sisters?
Many thanks and a Happy New Year to all from rainy Rome.

Hi,

As I understand it, you're looking for further information on:

Susanna Brittain b. 1803
Mary Ann  - b. 1805
Elizabeth - b. 1814

No information, but a question:

Have you looked for them in the 1841 census and the BMD death records under their maiden names?   Not all women married, even at that time.

Jann

Hi Jann,
Thanks for your reply.  Yes I am looking for info on Susanna, Mary Ann and Elizabeth.
I have checked the 1841 Census and BMD but found nothing.  I could not find anything on George Snr and Elizabeth in 1841 but found them living in Whitechapel in 1851.
Eliza married a GeorgeRowland in London in 1833 and had a daughter Eliza.
My 2xgt.grandfather George married twice in Newcastle upon Tyne - to Harriet Thompson and after her death to Mary Gardner.  Boh Georges were cabinet makers as was my gt.grandfather Edward Thompson Brittain b.1851 Newcastle son of George and Mary Gardner.

Hi Patricia,

Good luck with your search.

Since Eliza married in the London area, Pallot's Index may be worth checking.  Also, parishes in London and Middlesex
