William Dent Born 1846 & Jane Dent Born 1847 (Married)

Can anyone help with any additional information on the above who we believe to have had 3 children - Sarah Annie Dent, born at Barwise Hall, Hoff, Appleby, in 1882 and married a John William Sisson. She also had two other sisters, Mary Jane Dent, born 1874 and Hannah Eleanor Dent, born 1885.

Great information - much appreciated. I am also trying to find out the period of time the Dent family occupied the Hall and if they were tenant farmers (note sure on this one) - or who may have owned the property around this time - any suggestions for further search areas to look would be great.

Kendal record office may hold property sale or transfer papers for Barwise Hall.   As it still exists maybe contacting the current owners might help as they may have access to the deeds?

1881 Census you can view for yourself on Familysearch .
He is aged 36, born c 1845, married to Jane and Farmer at Barwise Hall employing 2 labourers. The farm is 400acres.

Willliam Dent b1843 at Brackenbar, St Michaels Parish , Bongate, Appleby is my GG Uncle. What relation are the Dents to you?
I have done lots of work on the Dent family. 2 of his brothers went out to Australia - Thomas & John.
I am decended from his sister Mary Dent b1825 Bongate.

As I have it, William Dent married Jane Dent b 1846 and had a number of childred of which one was Sarah Annie Dent b 1882 and d 1962

Sarah Annie Dent married John William Sisson b 1869 and d 1916 who had a son called Cyril Sisson b 1910 and d 1983

Cyril Sisson is the father of ..................... who is my partners father

My Gandfather was Cyril Sisson of Temple Sowerby who married Vera Maude Hawkins.  I am wondering who your partner is as I only know of 2 daughters that he had, my mother and her sister (and he also had two stepdaughters). He had a son from a previous marriage.  I am very curious and am wondering if you know of his son, whose name I think begins with M.  Any info would be great.  I have pictures of my Grandfather if you think this is the same Cyril Sisson.  When he was alive he visited Temple Sowerby quite often to see relatives.

I was just wondering if you had verified who the father of your William Dent is? If he is the same William Dent as mine whose father was Joseph Dent b1800 and mother was Mary Kersey.
