do you have any idea where in Ireland the Paddens originated ?

For early records like this you would need to try church records (if they survive), which would require you to first know their religion and where they came from - i.e parish, town or townland. Would any US records (census, birth/death/marriage certs) show any details on this ?

Co. Cork is the largest county in Ireland with numerous Catholic parishes - see the Irish Times RC parish maps  The links for each parish show surviving dates and location of records. Many of the records are available on microfilm in the National Library in Dublin. Note that there are not many RC records that survive from before 1800.

Some parish records are available on the Mallow heritage centre section of the pay-website of the Irish Family History Foundation at : www.irish-roots.ie They include records for the east and north of the county only (no Cork city records). The IrishGenealogy website http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/ (free) is planning to add some county Cork records, but it is not clear at the moment  which parts of the county they plan to add.

Would there be any way to locate a more detailed place of origin from US records ?
