James Little/Mary Robson
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 20:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on one of my last big mysteries. James Little and Mary Robson (my great great grandparents) had one son - James Robert Little, born Hawick 9/8/1830. James is described as a ploughman of Raes-know. In the 1841 census James Robert Little is not with any family members - aged 10 he is an Ag Lab at Hichesters Farm, Roberton. In 1851 he is at Harden, Roberton. I can find no trace of his parents and no death records. I can trace Mary Robson back to James Robson born 1711 in Roberton, but I can find nothing for James Little. It is a common name so there are a few James Littles born about 1810 in Roxburghshire (Mary Robson was born 1811) but I have ruled out the obvious ones born near to Roberton. as I can find them in 1841.

Many thanks,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

I have found a James Little born 13th December 1808 at Cavers which is not that far from Hawick. His father is Archibald Little and his mother is Barbary Jamison.

Mike

Hi,
Thanks - but I have ruled this one out, he is living in Cavers with wife and children in 1841.
