i will post more info. that Martyn has sent me,

same as above with this added, William of chiddingly is a labourer and his dad Edward was also,

Mary of chiddingly, her father was a labourer

and William/Mary married in the parish church of chiddingly

the witnesses look like George parsons and Sarah teague per Martyn , he says it is hard to read, i have asked him to scan it to me when he has time,

should he order the Charles/violet norman marriage now? or 1 of the births of Charles's children,

but i think we should follow Charles/ violet norman marriage and their children so maybe Martyn may find some living relatives,

i think i have this all right.. Martyn, send us items as you are able to please,  we will try to search for this Edward moon and wife and william teague and wife

Hi Moon Researchers

Today (Friday 5th Feb) the Hastings Observer carries a letter as follows:

Information Appeal for Families History

I wonder if it is possible for you to put something in the local paper for anyone who has any information on the MOON family and the HILDER family, in particular the info I have at the moment is: Margaret B Moon (nee Mackay) born January 7th 1944.
I am trying to trace her parents Violet Mackay (nee Hilder) born about 1900.
As for the Moon family I have Brian George Moon born 6th May 1940, son of George James Thomas Moon born about 1900 , married Elizabeth Gooder/Goodger in 1934 in Hastings.  If anyone can help it would be appreciated - please could anyone reply by e-mail to .....

As the people mentioned could still be alive - if anyone with connections to the above would like to send me a private message, then I will send you the e-mail address of the writer

yes, we knew about that William and Rebecca in 1841 c. who had our William c. 1821 we think, so maybe this is William's uncle because we are looking for an Edward Moon, father of our William Moon, and his wife and on 1841c. there is HO 107 1098 4/8 9 steying union, steyning, high street, don't know if this is William's father... what do you think?

if anyone is willing, i have more info. from Martyn, he says how can we find more recent people now...

it is harder to find anything on Edward, father of William 1821. due to not being able to order certificates, but any suggestions are welcome,

Martyn says he will order Charles and Violet Norman's marriage now, what else should he order?

he said Charles/ Violet had a son Arthur and he was in the army, he may have been married to a Daphne? with a daughter Diane? but he isn't sure, (hard to get this due to only having 1911 c., have to try to find it on the BMD)

and he wonders why his dad's sisters can not be traced...

so more info. to go through eventually, thanks Martyn, we will keep looking for you if we can, keep the information coming please, it will just take time, but they are out there,

Jennifer

Martyn has received his father's death certificate and nothing new to help us,

another thing on Arthur is he was in the Army and afterwards he taught for the army at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire until around 1979 (try to find an arthur moon married c. 1948 but it is quarter by quarter year by year also)

when searching you would have to look for Winnifred, Rose and Ruth E.  quarter by quarter year by year for their marriage, 1911 onwards so it would be a long slog to find them

on Charles/Vi marriage it may give us some clues depending on the witnesses and if it were 1 of his sisters with a different name would help with whom they married, it is a long shot,

hi gary

Welcome to Rootschat and especially the Sussex Boards - one of the best.

Thanks for the messages received earlier today - I did send the info on to "Moon" by private message and I notice that at the moment she is now on line.
so will leave you two to update your research with each other.
