COMPLETED THANKS 1956 Civilian BEM
« on: Monday 04 January 10 18:11 GMT (UK) »
Can someone tell me where I can find Civilian NON ARMY citation records for Bem`s 1956.

I have searched in vain on Nat Archives. No problem with Army awards but cannot find civilian records.

Can anyone tell me search terms. OR are records held elsewhere?

Thanks

Happy New Year to all.

Can someone tell me where I can find NON ARMY citation records for Bem`s 1952-1956.

I have searched in vain on Nat Archives. No problem with Army awards but cannot find civilian records.

a google brings up this site http://www.militaryarchiveresearch.com/CivilianGallantry.htm which states they are indeed held at the National Archives.

Thanks for your reply,

I tried again, entering different wordings.
All I came up with is military entries. Even put in name of recipient and comes up unknown.

I have tried all individual references given for civilians from the site you suggested. No luck

Thanks for your help.

The place to look for all honours & awards is the London Gazette. They are online & are free to search. Try www.gazettes-online.co.uk

Thanks Blanched,

Got that ages ago. Easy to find person - both Military and Civilian.

The actual citations on Nat Arch are not - for Civilians.

Military no probs!

I am still looking for a record of a civilian   BEM awarded in 1956.

It was awarded during a ceremony at Lancaster House on 11th March 1956 but I can find no Citation record anywhere.

It is easy to find military awards in Nat Archives and London Gazette but I have not found record of civilian BEM. ???

It must be somewhere! Anyone know where? ???

Hi Rosie,

Do you know where civilian records are kept? If you do I can search there?

Hi

No, I just wondered if by searching on his name it would find him somewhere - I always live in hope  :)
