Hello, Another Pattinson here. If you are interested, Mum has the records of the John Pattinson-Letticia Winter marriage. From memory it was 1780 or something.
As far as we can see, my branch of the family has always had a tradition of calling sons by the forename Winter. My grandfather, his uncle, my uncle (he died five years ago).
Until Mum did the research, this Winter name was a mystery, we did not even know that our roots were in Lincolnshire.

Hope that this is interesting, Best regards.

Hi & Welcome to RC.

brilliant that you have info. my husband is descended through Winter Pattinsons brother Charles born 1843 metheringham.

don't think the marriage can be 1780 as John born 1767 but lettice 1781 as i have it (may be wrong)

i have a lot of Pattinson info. once you have posted 3 times you can PM me so put a few replies on here - smiles will do!!

I imagine the marriage you are talking about was

1810 at Billinghay
John PATTINSON (wid) to Lettess THOMPSON (wid)

after
1805 Billinghay
David THOMPSON to Lettice WINTER
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Well that is interesting. We found Winters in a church graveyard in a village a few miles to the south of Metheringham. Even by way of the second marriage the name has endured to the modern day. A Pattinson who is my second cousin's grandson (?) has so far succeeded in producing (well, his wife has suceeded) four girls all of whom would have become Winters if sons. I guess it is too much too ask a mother to name a daughter Wiinter, it is surprising that the mother's so far have accepted the coldest season of the year for their babies without even knowing the origin.

Mum and Dad are the ones to contact if you have any more gaps. Their email is  ....

Where are you?

Hi we are in loughborough in the midlands.

my husbands family remain in Lincs around the same area.  it is his maternal side of the family - his mother was a Pattinson. they were in potter Hanworth / metheringham for ages back.
