The Donegal Resources Site has a list of Coastguard births in Donegal and Crohy Head is listed.

I'd be interested in details of Daniel Sweeney as I believe he may be related to Patrick.

Looks like Crowie Ireland and there was a coastguard station at Crohey Head

it does look like Cro...  Ireland.. but there's no mention Crohy as a coastguard station in the volume (ADM175/18) that covers the 1820s ... do you think there could have been another name for the location at that time ?

1901 census has note that Crohy is commonly referred to as Falmore

I skipped back another volume and found it!  ... It's the old name for Port Noo station...

 Ref.: ADM175/17 / Pg. 316 / 495
Station: Croie Head Port Noo, Port of Sligo, District of DunfanaghyRutland / Lochrus

no sign of Patrick though... I'll try the previous volume..

found Patrick, and it ties up with the date and place of the oldest England transfer ... and it's where he signed up :

 Ref.: ADM 175/16  pg 341/503
Station: Croie Head, Port of Killibegs, District Rutland
(also headed : Port Noo, Port of Sligo, District Killibegs)
Date of Appointment to the Station : 19 Aug 29
From whence Nominated, or Station removed from : .... C... Co. Donegal  (see screenshot)
 Name :  Patrick Sweeny
 Quality:    Boatman
 Removed or Absconded :  appointed
Date of Discharge or Removal : 29 Sept 1829
Station Removed to : Barton Cliff, Southhampton
 Remarks :  (none)

I believe the place listed is probably his place of origin, or maybe residence when he signed on. He seems to have signed on with a Grant Dudgeon from the same place.

That's great - The Dudgeon Family were landowners in Templecrone Parish so that would make sense.
Thanks for that marathon effort

That was an interesting trail to follow... Donegal to Sussex and Kent, back to Donegal, Kerry and Sligo..
