Not at the moment, all I have is from the 1881 Census and a marriage in 1867 to Ann Holmes.

I hope you are right, what distinguishes this man from the other 2 candidates. Both Joseph and his son George were Blacksmiths at the Colliery.

From the Northumberland & Durham Family History Society, there is the following marriage listed, which may be relevant ...

21st June 1834 at Stanhope, George Westgarth = Sarah Hodgson

ps To be absolutely sure that this is the correct family you should check the 1867 marriage of Joseph and Ann to confirm the names of the fathers etc.

Thanks very much for that very useful information . I have now heard from 2 contacts on Genes Reunited who descend from the 2 other Joseph's born around the same time. I therefore am sure that you have solver my puzzle.

There is a baptism for Phoebe an older sister of Joseph on the IGI
