This image dates after 1924 due to the collar dogs being on the uniform. As for the regiment I would suggest that he served in the Royal Engineers going by the shape and form of the cap badge. The collar dogs, if R.E., would be a flaming grenade with the word Ubique in the scroll work.

iv been through that carol. i dont use the prog that was been used on there. iv tried some of the prog mentioned and this is what i get, i can get the kb.s down ok but as soon as i try the size it just loses detail.
this original is 2568x1496 and 615kb
i can get it below 500 no probs but its still the same size

From what I can make out both men shown in this photograph would have been in the same regiment.
Commonwealth soldiers all wore the same general service uniform with the only real difference being the regimental badge on the service cap and, during the 1st ww the Canadian's had a maple leaf on the collar (and their buttons were different in number than on the British uniform) whilst the Australians had the sun burst emblem on their collars.
