PENMAN in St Ninians
« on: Wednesday 13 January 10 10:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I am desperately trying to research my family history.  Sadly my maternal family is from europe so not having much joy there.  My paternal side has been extremely elusive, although I seem to have found some info now thanks to an uncle.  I have the following info:

Margaret Provan Penman (b1916 St Ninians)
Jeanie Forest Penman (b1910 St Ninians)
Mary Robertson Penman (b1929 St Ninians)

Looking at the age differences, I imagine that there will be siblings between these.  My uncle says his grandparents were called Shaw though (maybe my g-grandmother re-married).  I know my g-grandfather served in Black Watch at Edinburgh castle, and according to my uncle they lived in Falkirk for as long as he can remember.

The 1901c for St Ninians lists only one Penman family but I think these could have been gg-grandparents as the ages don't seem to tie in, only with their children.

I have the following info:

Isabella - 40 years
James - 39 years
Hugh - 17 years
David - 15 years
Mary - 13 years
Isabella - 9 years
James - 6 years

I have managedd to trace my grandmothers birth certificate but unable to view online so have ordered this but may take 3 weeks to come.

Can anyone cast any light?

Thanks

Michelle
