Hi Gerry

I have spent a couple of years looking into the Rees family. My great great grandfather was Richard Montague Rees. I have found lots of interesting information about him and his siblings. I have also spent a fair bit of time looking into how Cilymaenllwyd (Killymaenllwyd) moved out of the family via a reversion to Cyril Arengo Jones.

I wondered how deeply you had got into researching the family. Maybe I could help you or you could help me?

Regards

Brian

Hi Cell

Thank you for finding another of the Rees family.  Elyder was one of four brothers and I have found out quite a lot about them, apart from Elyder.   Have read your PM and it sounds like Elyder came to a lowly end.   Was he the only Rees in Bloomsbury in 1891?    The IGI records his birth  in 1838 and Free BMD his death in 1892 but I can find nothing in between. Researching the Rees tree has been most rewarding and much of this is down to the lead you gave me about Cillymaenllwyd.    I think there is more to uncover and I will write to the Llanelli Historical Society and ask if they can help.   Many thanks for all your help Cell

Gerry

Hi Brian

It's many years since I researched the Rees family and your email was a most welcome surprise.  The Rees family is the maternal line of my  late wife and Richard Montaguie Rees (1844-1918) was her great-great-grandfather.  Nearer to home her grandfather was Elyder George Rees (1880-1927) who married Jane Ellen Ellis (1881-1941).  My research found seven children, which includes (your) George Rees and his sister, Dorothy, my late wife's mother.   My research  traces a Rees family tree  to the 1600s and back in time to the early formation of the Rees  family in Wales.   Cilymaenllwyd has a fascinating history and I have a CD 'Cilymaenllwyd - 'From Gentry Home to Nursing Home' by William and Benita Rees (equivalent of about 800, A4 pages) issued in 2009.   Far too much to publish on this site but I'm here to help.

Do get in touch if I can help  but I think any next exchanges might best be through private e-mails.

Regards
Gerry

Hi Gerry

Thanks for getting back. That is interesting, especially the close link between George and Dorothy. It would be great to exchange our information although, as you say, a bit unwieldy using rootschat itself. My email is brianerees@hotmail.com if you can drop me a quick note to initiate things. Do you use whatsapp too, I find that handy for sending images.

Looking forward to hearing from you and passing on what I have found.

Regards

Brian

Hi Gerry

I have started pulling together the employment, service and marital information I have for Richard Montague Rees. If you can let me have your email address I can outline what I have, to see if it is of interest to you.  Just to confirm, my email is brianerees@hotmail.com (note the “e” between brian and rees, sometimes people miss that!)

Regards

Brian
