Hi Jim,

William Arthur Donald and his wife Vera are 2nd cousins 3 times removed.

I have Vera's death as 1964 and nothing for William. I have them married in 1923. Is this correct? I have nothing else on them.

If you would like to send me a PM there is a little scroll below my user name. When I am on it will light up a light green colour. when off it is dark green.

I would love to learn more.

Thank you so much for the newspaper article you have attached and the photo as well

Do you know where Ann is buried? I have no death date for her.

Which Ann?  The wife of George Donald Snr is a mystery so far.  There is no record of her death in Australia.  The boat they came over from Scotland on doesn't mention a death at sea.  It may be probable that she died just prior to leaving Scotland.  I'm not convinced that she ever arrived in Australia.

If you mean their daughter Ann,  who first married Henry Phipps, she then re-married and became Ann Harris.  She is buried in Toowoomba cemetery.

REgards,  Jim

Hi,
George Donald & Anne Johnstone had 8 children born & in the OPR Births Register of Rothiemay, Banff, Scotland. I have added the indexes of the children to my tree on Ancestry, along with the OPR Marriage Index for George & Anne, 12/Dec/1818 in Rothiemay.

Hi Duncan,

My connection is through Isabella DONALD so we are distant cousins.  I do not have a sub with Ancestry but if I PM you my email address could I have access to your tree please.

Regards

Hi there,

Yes it was very useful and have added some to my tree already. I did have a tree on Genes Reunited but have not updated it for quite a while.  I use legacy at home for my tree so it makes things easier for me  and have had to divide some of the branches to make it easier.

I have still found nothing for Emma Donald 1871 but did find a death for a Ellen Donald in 1920 with the same parents as the other siblings.  it looks like some of the births were not registered

Hi,
As you can see, spelling of parents names can vary greatly, try more basic searches on the Queensland BMD site for folk.  Try not entering second forenames or only put in father's name or mothers name, as well as the surname. I tend not to insert forename in general searches, unless exact date of BMD is known.
                                              Regards,
