Elizabeth Evans 1864/65 Pemb.
« on: Friday 15 January 10 15:42 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth is my husbands grandmother and she is proving to be quite elusive.

I have been trying to find her prior to the 1881 census when she is to be found in Maerdy living with her father William and her stepmother Esther (James).

I have spent months trawling through the BMD and the1871 census but I have so little to go on as she doesnt appear to be with her father, not that I can find him either.

I know that she was living in Maerdy from 1881 with her husband John Benjamin Thomas, who she married in 1889, and her 8 children Annieta, Esther Mary, David William, John Richard,
Thomas Benjamin and Elizabeth Meiriona (my mother in law)

Hello,
I've not found them yet- been looking for William's father and brothers for clues- here they are as Evan in 1871

May I ask -are you sure that is your Elizabeth living with William and Esther?

Elizabeth seems to give St Davids as her place of birth on most censuses.
Looking at Free BMD for Haverfordwest, which is the registration district for St Davids there are no Elizabeth Evans births for 1865.

1864 December quarter
Elizabeth Evans
Elizabeth Ann Evans

1866 March quarter
Elizabeth Evans
Elizabeth C Evans

It would be worth sending off to see if any have a father called William.
(Your post on other thread just came through and I see you are trying that - good luck

Update;  :)

all correspondence on the subject of Elizabeth seems to have ended up on my post for William Evans 1845 Mathry ........ her father

situation is ...still looking  with the help of Orielbenfro and Heywood who have been brilliant  ;D ;D ;D

applied for a birth certificate for her 11a 712 Haverfordwest Dec 1864 but just found out that father isnt named as William  :(    thats not to say that it isnt her cos William is yet to be found between 1861 and 1871
